SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail protection system, that is designed to confirm whether an email message was sent by a licensed server. Employing SPF protection for a given domain name will stop the forging of email addresses generated with the domain. In layman's terms: enabling this feature for a domain name creates a specific record in the Domain Name System (DNS) that contains the IP addresses of the servers that are allowed to send emails from mailboxes using the domain. As soon as this record propagates worldwide, it exists on all of the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. When an e-mail message is sent, the initial DNS server it goes through tests if it originates from an official server. If it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, but if it doesn't come from a server indexed in the SPF record for the domain, it is rejected. In this way nobody will be able to mask an email address and make it appear as if you are distributing spam messages. This method is also called email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Web Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for any domain name hosted in a web hosting account on our cloud platform with only a couple of mouse-clicks. The feature is accessible in the Emails section of our revolutionary Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to enable it is to choose one of your domains from a drop-down list and type in the hostnames and the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers which will be approved to send email messages from your emails. As an additional option you can even restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain name only if it has our MX records, i.e. when our servers manage the email addresses for it, not some third-party provider. This option offers you the highest level of security, but it's not applicable in case only your site is on our servers while the email addresses for the domain name are managed elsewhere. Regardless, our SPF protection service will keep your emails safe from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia website hosting Control Panel, which comes with all of our Linux semi-dedicated packages, will provide you with a very intuitive interface to activate the SPF security service for every domain that you host within your new account. A few clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia are enough for that and you will only have to enter the hostname and the IP address of the mail server that will be allowed to send out messages from your e-mail addresses. When the email messages are taken care of by us and not by some other supplier, you will be able to increase the security level even further and activate an option for all of the outgoing e-mails to be sent only if your domain names include our MX records. This option will give you increased control and it'll eliminate any chance of somebody faking your e-mail addresses with the intention of spamming or scamming people. It is not applicable if only your site is hosted on our cutting-edge cloud web hosting platform, while your e-mails are handled by a different provider. If you are not sure what features to choose, our technical support team will help you 24/7.
